Youth News – September 2015

Dear Starkdale Parents, Youth and Friends,

It was an exciting summer for the youth ministry highlighted especially by the Philadelphia/Allentown mission trip in late July. We also took part in the Hometown Talent Celebration, the Back-to-School bash at the Urban Mission, the Trash to Treasure sale, the Victory in Da Ville Festival, and a number of us took part in preparing and serving food to the homeless at the Urban Mission on a weekly basis. We also have been having an average of 7 teenagers every Wednesday night for the Wednesday night adult Bible Study.

We just had around 35 people out for a last three youth meetings. Sunday night, September 13 will be an unbelievable evening featuring 10 youth acts including the Allegheny Angels and then followed by a dramatic testimony by former Ohio State Buckeye national champion football player Maurice Clarett. It will run from 6:00-8:00 and will take place at the Big Red Auditorium and it is free of charge.

The Valley’s Got Talent event is coming again in November and will be bigger and better than ever and will feature celebrity guest judge Brian Johnson from “The Voice” TV show. It will take place on Sunday night Nov. 8th at 6:00 at the Big Red Auditorium. There also will be open tryouts at the center court of the Fort Steuben Mall Oct. 24th from 2:00-3:30 with registration from 1:30-2:00.

It is going to be an exciting year! Be sure to view our Fall/Winter 2015 Schedule.

Also the Sunday school is starting up with a kickoff event Sunday, September 13. There’ll be a balloon launch and tons of food & fun during the fellowship hour.

The session of the church has also encourage me to have all students take part in a five-week course that outlines the basic Bible doctrines of our church. If you attend all five weeks you’re eligible to become a member of the church and be baptized if you have not already done so. Even if you have been baptized and join the church it is strongly encouraged that you attend the sessions for these five weeks where we will cover basic Bible doctrines as well as the seven essentials of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. This will take place from 9:30-10:30 on Sunday nmorning.

Look forward to seeing you soon!
Blessings!
