Youth News – October 2015

sym_logoHere are some youth ministry highlights from the last month…

We had an average of around 35 people out for our last four youth meetings.

The Valley’s Got Talent event is coming again in November and will be bigger and better than ever and will feature celebrity guest judge Brian Johnson from “The Voice” TV show.  It will take place on Sunday night Nov. 8th at 6:00 at the Big Red Auditorium.  There also will be open tryouts at the center court of the Fort Steuben Mall Oct. 24th from 2:00-3:30 with registration from 1:30-2:00.

Maurice Clarett spoke to around 350 people at the All Valley Youth Rally and also to 650 students at Big Red HS.  He shared his testimony even at the school event!

The Toronto Jr. High Fellowship of Christian Athletes Program has started and after one week has doubled in size from 12 to 24 students!  The HS group at Toronto will begin soon!

I’m encouraging all students grades 6-12 to take part in a five-week communicants course that outlines the basic Bible doctrines of our church. If you attend all five weeks you’re eligible to be baptized if you have not already done so and become a member of the church pending a final examination by the session. Even if the students have been baptized and have joined the church, I strongly recommend that they attend the sessions for these five weeks where I will cover basic Bible doctrines as well as the seven essentials of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  This will take place from 9:30-10:30 on Sunday morning.

I was asked by the Mayor to speak at the city council 8/1/15 about the positive things going on in the city for youth through the youth ministry events that are taking place.  It went well and was well received by all in attendance.

Was asked by Franciscan University to speak about the Valley Youth Activities to their students on Oct. 28th at 11:00.

Led the Back to School Bash Concert with 250 in attendance at the Fort Steuben Amphitheatre.

Led the Valley Youth Workers Network meeting which had 40 in attendance.  It has more than doubled in size in the last year.  Even the mayor and Fred Abdulla showed up as well as Harding is sending a school rep to each meeting.
