Message from Rev. Danielson – April 2016

Dear Starkdale Members and Friends,

Spring is sprung but our work is never done.  There is a healthy busyness to the happenings at Starkdale.  The various departments are humming along like busy bees, each doing their part to make our hive whole.

Easter-week events involved a lot of preparations which were done with joy and skill and were clearly received by our congregation through their participation.

Matters are already coming together for the summer Vacation Bible School. Not only has the material been carefully chosen but also our staff is stellar.  You will find detailed information in this month’s issue of the Chimes.

The Bible studies are continued both on Tuesdays at 10:00 am in Revelation and on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in the Psalms.  It’s never too late to get started.

Again, I want to thank you for your evident desire to know the Word of God.  In these days of entertainment worship you are precious in the sight of the Lord!

Rev. Paul Danielson

Youth News – March 2016

It has been a wonderful couple of months of ministry, and we have some exciting events coming up in March.  I would ask parents to especially encourage their teens to attend the Abigail’s Angels fundraiser concert on March 13th, to benefit one of our Starkdale youth, Abigail Kinney.  Also, to attend the “Teen Depression, Self-Injury and Suicide” night on March 20th, featuring Lisa Ward of Coleman Counseling.  It has been a blessing to see  so many of the Starkdale youth at the FCA clubs and at their sporting events. The Souper Bowl for Caring was very successful, and we wish to thank you for your support.  The youth collected $411, to be given to the Urban Mission.  Although it was freezing cold, 22 youth participated in the ice skating night on February 14th, at PPG in Pittsburgh.

God bless you all!

Message from Rev. Danielson – March 2016

Dear Starkdale Members and Friends,

Pardon the pun, but the months just keep marching along, one after the other. I am neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet; nevertheless, I can promise you that if this snow keeps up, it won’t come down!

I continue to be encouraged by your faithful attendance and evident desire to hear and know the Word of God.

God’s blessing is upon you for good. Also, it is good to hear your godly conversation one with another. Your searching questions and comments to me about various aspects of the messages tell me you are not only listening but desiring to go deeper into the understanding and application of a given passage. Such was the response of the Berean Christians as they searched the Scriptures daily to verify that the things they were hearing were true. (Acts 17:11)

Please pray earnestly for the elders as they continue their search for God’s man to minister to God’s people and to the community around us. When the leaders led in Israel, the people followed willingly, and the Lord blessed! (Judges 5:2)

Distributing Gifts to Dixon Nursing Home

It has been a wonderful youth ministry year, and I truly have been blessed to work with all of you at Starkdale.  In December, we received by Profession of Faith, four youth into membership. Several youth have joined the Starkdale Youth group for the first time this fall.  We have had our largest turnouts for youth meetings  (25+) since I have been here, which is a great sign for the future of the youth in our community and here at Starkdale.   The youth have several upcoming events:

Feb 7  “Super Bowl Party” – Leave at 6:15  P.M. from church and return when the game is over or sooner if there is a blowout.  There will be tons of food, games,  and a Bible study at halftime,  It will take place at the Bauman home.

Feb 14  “Ice Skating Night” – Leaving Starkdale at 5:00 and return at 9:30. Will take place at PPG place in Pittsburgh.  Cost is $10 each for skates and admission to the skating rink.

Feb. 21 “Brennan The Movie Night! Come out and see this dynamic film chronicling the life story of author Brennan Manning who had a huge influence on the CCM artist Rich Mullins who wrote “Our God Is An Awesome God.” The cost is $10 per ticket.  6:00-7:45 P.M.

With Joy,  Pastor Bobbyjon
